RECOGNITION AND AWARDS

  • 1. Conferred the “VOICE FOR THE VOICELESS’ AWARD, by Governor of Tamil Nadu on International Woman’s Day March 8th 2016 – an award instituted by Sakhi Mandal Sahyog, Chennai.
  • 2. Selected as one amongst 20 women in India by the Business Today group as a " WOMAN OF IMPACT " in 2017 who have made a significant impact in the non- profit sector and for a social cause in India.
  • 3. INVITEE to IBM’s ‘POWER IN PROGRESS’ event at Bangalore on 30th May 2018 where in around selected 100 women achievers from diverse fields were invited from across India.
  • 4. Awarded the BHAGAWAN MAHAVEER AWARD FOR NON – VIOLENCE AND VEGETARIANISM in 2018 from the Vice President of India, which included a citation and cash award of Rs 10,00,000 - which again was donated in whole for the care of the animals in PFA shelter.
  • 5. Recognized as a “WONDER WOMAN” in Animal Welfare on Women’s Day 2019, By Ladies Circle, India of the Rotary Club of India.
  • 6. Conferred the “SHINING WORLD COMPASSION AWARD 2019” by the Supreme Master Ching Hai International Association which includes a citation and $15000. This has been donated in whole for the construction of the “ Jinendra Jeevdaya Kendra “ which is a new “ cage free – chain free” sanctuary for domestic animals .
  • 7. Conferred and recognized as one amongst the ten “INCREDIBLE HEROES OF HUMANITY” IN 2019 by THE BETTER INDIA group .
  • 8. Conferred the “CHENNAI CITIZEN” AWARD 2021 by Radio City Group in recognition of the medical care and feeding provided the 149 hungry beach horses on Marina and Mahabalipuram during the entire period of the lock down in 2020.
  • 9. Conferred the ‘CHENNAI CARNATIC AWARD ‘for excellence in animal welfare by the Rotary Club Of Chennai Carnatic on International Women’s Day 2021.
  • 10. Recognized as one amongst ‘7 WOMEN WHO ARE MAKING THE WORLD A BETTER PLACE’ by Donatekart , India, on International Women’s Day 2021.


POSITIONS HELD / INVITED SPEAKER

As an expert in the field of alternatives to the use of animals in Testing / education she held the following positions in a national level and was invited to speak at the following international/ national congresses:

  • * Expert Consultant with the CPCSEA, MoEf , GOI from 2000-2004
  • * Nominated member of the CPCSEA, Ministry of Environment, GOI, from 2011 - 2014
  • * Member of CPCSEA subcommittees for:
    • 1. Development of national guidelines for the use of equines in immune-biologicals
    • 2. Scrutiny of large animal (canine and primates) project proposals
    • 3. For the inspection of equine holding labs
    • 4. Harmonization of Indian regulatory guidelines with International guidelines
    • 5. Development of guidelines for reuse and rehab of dogs and primates
  • * Invited speaker at the World Congress for Alternatives and Animals Use in Life Sciences, Berlin, 2005.
  • * Invited speaker at the European Congress on Alternatives, Linz, Austria- 2006
  • * Invited Speaker at the World Congress on Alternatives and Animals Use in Life Sciences, Tokyo, 2007.
  • * Invited speaker at the 99th Indian Science Congress, Bhubaneshwar, 2011.
  • * Invited speaker at CPCSEA National Conference on Alternatives and Animal Use, Chennai, 2012.
