For 23 years she has been personally looking after the PFA JINENDRA ANIMAL HOSPITAL & SHELTER, Red Hills, Chennai and thereafter at Tiruvallur, taking care of more than 900 animals on a daily basis, all of which have been victims to purposeful human violence and need 24X7 attention and care. They include cows, dogs, cats, horses, donkeys, camels, ponies, sheep, goats, pigs and birds. Of which more than 500of them are abandoned pet dogs who are discarded by thir families when old , blind sick and simply because they do not want them anymore. The shelter is unique in that it is a “CAGE – FREE AND CHAIN- FREE” forever home for these animals who live out their second chance in life happily without the fear of confinement, chains, cages or ropes in absolute peace and harmony with nature until natural death. A resident veterinarian, para-vets and 27 animal care takers and labor take care of them on a daily basis. Free Out Patient care is also rendered for the animals in and around the village.
As someone deeply fond of cats she has been constantly working with the police for more than a decade to expose, deter and rescue pet cats that are stolen for their blood and for the extremely brutal cat meat trade. Dozens of cats have been rescued, decoys set, gypsy camps raided and the cat meat trade exposed.
